Jim KirkupManaging Consultant

Meet the team

Jim is an enthusiastic procurement leader who enjoys the challenges that come with creating and sustaining value outcomes. Jim has more than 20 years’ experience in public and private sector procurement roles across healthcare, retail and manufacturing.

Prior to consulting, Jim was the Chief Procurement Officer / Director of Procurement and Supply at Melbourne Health (Royal Melbourne Hospital) and was a member of the Procurement Committee at HealthShare Victoria (formerly Health Purchasing Victoria). Jim achieved a prestigious CIPS award for his work in transforming the procurement team into a strategic value-adding function and for the development and growth of the supply chain function that has since become the foundation for a state-wide supply solution.

Jim has also held a procurement leadership role at Kmart (a subsidiary of Wesfarmers) and was their Head of Procurement and Purchasing. He established a greenfield procurement team which included the set up of three category management teams and a reset of their equipment purchasing team to service the increased equipment demand from an aggressive new and refurbishment store program.
A key feature of Jim’s approach is the time he invests into listening to his customers and clients and his strategic planning. This approach has been particularly useful when developing and managing savings programs and Jim and the teams he has led have been successful in driving down the costs of doing business.

Jim is recognised by CIPS as a leader that contributes to the reputation of the procurement profession and has been awarded Fellowship status of the Institute.
