Savings & Opportunities
With a billion dollar acquisition imminent, our client was about to become one of Australia’s largest retail wealth managers. A org-wide transformation programme was in progress, with Procurement identified as a stream that should provide a significant contribution to the $150M acquisition synergy target. It was recognised that expert assistance was required to identify and deliver the cost savings.
ArcBlue was engaged to execute our Savings Accelerator methodology, we identified >50 initiatives that could deliver savings for the client. This included ‘quick wins’ and a range of larger opportunities in Technology, Labour hire, Professional services and Property categories, where our category SME’s applied our deep value discovery analysis techniques to maximise the opportunities.
All opportunities were documented and validated through an agile governance process prior to being approved for execution. Once each initiative was approved an ArcBlue procurement lead was assigned as well as a client side business owner was also assigned to ensure organisational objectives were shared. Execution commenced and was regularly reported on using our Savings Tracker hub and via fortnightly SteerCo meetings with the COO as the sponsor.
We identified $39M in savings across the in-scope spend categories. The recommendation to pursue the identified savings was agreed by the client and ArcBlue delivered $21M of savings at an ROI of >10x, with an additional $7M of savings in flight and a further $11M to be addressed by the BAU procurement team.
In addition to the savings work, ArcBlue also designed the client’s new procurement operating model and R2P processes for the new Procure to pay system.
