Get to know Nelly Ah-Kang, Talent Acquisition Partner for ArcBlue
How did you end up here? What is your professional background?
Currently based in Singapore, I have over a decade of experience in recruitment. Prior to looking after the talent acquisition for ArcBlue, I worked in executive search with a multinational firm, following an earlier role with a local recruitment group. Working at ArcBlue has allowed me to broaden my regional exposure and allowing me to recruit top talent not only within Singapore but also across multiple markets, and I am now focusing on identifying and recruiting the best talents for our teams in South-East Asia.
How do you spend most of your days?
My days are centered around partnering closely with our business leaders to assess hiring needs and develop targeted recruitment strategies that attract top talent for our consulting practice. I am also actively engaged in building and nurturing a strong talent network, looking at ways to optimize our recruitment processes and strengthening ArcBlue’s position as an employer of choice.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are at an exciting phase where we are going to expand our presence across Asia, so I am proactively building a strong talent pipeline to support our business needs.
What do you enjoy about working in recruitment?
It’s about making a real impact to a business: getting the right people is the very first step to ensure the success and growth of a business and it’s such a rewarding experience to see a successful hire thrive in their new position while contributing to the organization’s journey.
How long have you been at ArcBlue? What made you join us?
I joined ArcBlue in October 2023 (time flies!) as part of the Search team and I was really drawn to ArcBlue as I wanted to join a team that is specialised and focused on providing a strong customer-centric approach in their work.
What’s the reason you love to work at ArcBlue?
2 reasons for me: great team culture and support and trust from my management. It may sound pretty cliché but this combination is difficult to find nowadays 😊
What’s something not many people know about you?
I’ve been based in Singapore for close to 10 years now, but originally from Reunion Island, a French island off the coast of Madagascar. I love to travel to less-travelled places and have been to countries like Mongolia, Caucasus, Sri Lanka and hoping to go to Antarctica one day!
What can we normally find you doing on the weekend?
Unfortunately Singapore doesn’t have much hiking spots to explore so instead, I would either be working out at the gym, hanging out/exploring new food places with friends, cycling around, or just staying home watching Netflix. Occasionally, I would also go to Johor Bahru in Malaysia, which is a short trip away from Singapore.
