Get to know Courtney Gillespie, Web Builder & Project Officer for ArcBlue

How did you end up here? What is your professional background?

Before ArcBlue, I was working at Swinburne University of Technology in a customer service role. I worked there for a few years while I was completing my degree. In 2021, I was fortunate to hear about a position available at ArcBlue!

How do you spend most of your days?

Building and developing mybuy hubs for our clients!

What are you working on at the moment?

I have been working on the Procurement and Contract Management Framework (PCMF) for local government in NSW. It has been great to see a project grow from conception to implementation as we’ve rolled the PCMF out to many councils across NSW.

Our team have also been working hard to develop the new and improved mybuy infrastructure. It’s been a long process, but we’re excited to finally launch next year.

What are you currently trying to upskill in?

Project management and basic HTML/CSS

How long have you been at ArcBlue? What made you join us?

I joined ArcBlue in February 2021. Originally I joined to fill a maternity position in a role which was a blend of mybuy hub work and administration support. After a year, I was fortunate enough to receive a permanent position where I was able to take up a role in the technology space. Now my primary job is building and developing mybuy hubs.

What project has been the most fun / the meatiest to work on at ArcBlue?

Definitely the development of the new mybuy infrastructure. We have been able to build from the ground up and have implemented many backend changes that will improve the user experience in mybuy for our clients!

What’s the reason you love to work at ArcBlue?

As a junior employee, I love that I have the opportunity to work with senior consultants and learn from them. The culture at ArcBlue is also the best workplace culture I have ever experienced. Everyone is genuinely passionate and excited to work every day!

What’s something not many people know about you?

In 2014 I completed a 24-hour mega swim to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). My team and I were able to raise over $10,000 and swam over 100km!

What can we normally find you doing on the weekend?

I like to have one busy and one calm day each weekend. On a busy day I’m usually out and about with my friends or boyfriend. On a calm day I like to enjoy a coffee with my mum and dad at one of the local cafes.

Do you have any pets?

I do! I have two cats (Jenny and Margaret) who were foster fails. I’ve had them both since they were 4-weeks old and were no bigger than the size of my hand.
